Weekend Weather: Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued In PA

A hazardous weather outlook has been issued as "severe" weather is possible in Pennsylvania this weekend, according to forecasters.

The National Weather Service said there is a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms on Saturday, with possible damaging winds and heavy rainfall.

The Weather Channel was more definitive, saying severe thunderstorms with large hail and damaging winds will take aim at parts of the Great Lakes on Friday. A few of those storms may also spread into the Northeast Friday night into Saturday.

Showers and thunderstorms will arrive in a weakening state across the interior portions of the Northeast Friday night before a new line of storms develops along the Interstate 95 corridor on Saturday, according to AccuWeather.

These thunderstorms are not expected to produce widespread areas of severe weather, but the strongest storms could be heavy and gusty, according to AccuWeather.

Here is the forecast:

Friday afternoon: Mostly sunny, with a high near 88. Southwest wind around 9 mph.

Friday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 73. Southwest wind 6 to 8 mph.

Saturday: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly between 2 p.m and 5 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 90. West wind 5 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Saturday night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 8 p.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 71. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 87. Northwest wind 7 to 9 mph.
