Phoenixville Drug Death Case Yields Long Sentence For Philly Man
A Philadelphia man has been sentenced to up to 44 years in prison in a 2019 Phoenixville death-by-overdose case.
WEST CHESTER, PA — A Philadelphia man who sold heroin laced with fentanyl to a Phoenixville man who died using the deadly drugs has been sentenced to up to 44 years in prison.
In October 2020 a jury found Jamane Raynor, 32, of Philadelphia, guilty of drug delivery resulting in death, and other charges. Raynor this week in Chester County court was sentenced to 17½ to 44 years in state prison for selling drugs to a 40-year old victim, the Chester County District Attorney's Office said today.
Chester County District Attorney Deb Ryan said fentanyl is a growing problem, and this case is an example of its tragic consequences.

"The defendant, in this case, had no regard for the victim’s life when he sold him a deadly combination of drugs. This victim's death was just one of an ever-increasing number that is related to fentanyl. A true tragedy," Ryan said.
On July 19, 2019, the victim went to a Phoenixville apartment to buy prescription drugs and methamphetamine. While there, the defendant also sold him “dope” — heroin laced with fentanyl. The victim died from an overdose in his parent’s basement the following day, the district attorney's report said.

Sgt. Brian MacIntyre led the investigation. Chester County Assistant District Attorney Scott Werner prosecuted the case.
