The 25th annual event at Reeves Park will help kick off Memorial Day Weekend remembrances and celebrations in the borough.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — The Phoenixville Kiwanis Club will hold their 25th Annual Patriotic Celebration in Reeves Park on Friday, May 26 at 9:30 a.m., kicking off Memorial Day Weekend.
More than 500 school children, community members, and area leaders are expected at the event, organizers said.

The first celebration was launched after an American flag was stolen from Reeves Park back in 1992.
When the flag was found in nearby French Creek, it had been vandalized and was no longer serviceable, organizers said.

The Kiwanis Club agreed to pay for the new flag, and decided to hold a ceremony as it was hoisted up.
As part of the event, the club is also sponsoring their annual essay contest for fourth and fifth grade students. The topic is: "Everywhere in the world people like to help people. So does Kiwanis. They especially like to help children, particularly in our community. Do you like to help people? What would you do to help?”
In the event of rain, the program will be moved to the Barkley Elementary School auditorium.
