Phoenixville Schools Wall-Of-Famers Are Officially In
The 2021 Phoenixville Area School District Wall of Fame Induction gathered family and friends as good citizenship was honored.
PHOENIXVILLE, PA — The Wall of Fame Ceremony this week at Phoenixville Area High School auditorium brough together family, friends, and a community who remembered the contributions of three citizens.
Recoginzed in the May 3 induction ceremony were John Coll Jr; Thomas E. Mitchell (posthumously), and Barry Sankey (posthumously). Each of these men made significant contributions to PASD and to the Phoenixville community, the school district said.
PASD Superintendent of Schools Dr. Alan Fegleyspoke of the impact all of the Wall of Fame honorees have had on the school district, serving as role models in good citizenship and character.
Past inductees in attendance included Richard (Dick) Kunsch, Coach Leo Scoda, and Coach John (Doc) Kennedy.

The letters of nomination read during the ceremony were filled with accolades, speaking of the extensive volunteer and professional commitment from each of these gentlemen. John Coll has dedicated more than 40 years to youth baseball in Phoenixville, and continues to be involved to this day; Tom Mitchell is perhaps best remembered as Santa Claus to thousands of Phoenixville children; and Barry Sankey was the ultimate professional sportswriter, always looking for the positive, regardless of the game’s outcome.

The Wall of Fame was established in February of 2004. Its purpose is to recognize the contributions of a diverse group of graduates, current or former employees, volunteers, and/or friends of the Phoenixville Area School District.
These individuals have achieved noteworthy and outstanding accomplishments in their chosen fields or in service to the District and shall serve as role models for students currently enrolled in the Phoenixville Area School District. The three new inductees bring the total number of Wall of Fame members to 30.
