Phoenixville Spring Hydrant Flushing May Bring Cloudy Water: Boro
Water in Phoenixville faucets may be cloudy as springtime hydrant flushing gets underway starting April 5, the borough announced today.
PHOENIXVILLE, PA — In an alert to Phoenixville residents who may become alarmed if they see cloudy water coming from their faucets, the borough's public works department today gave a heads up that hydrant flushing has begun.
Phoenixville Public Works Director Brian A. Watson announced today that the borough's semi-annual flushing of fire hydrants in the water system begins April 5 and will continue for five weeks.
"Flushing of fire hydrants may cause cloudiness with your tap water and we ask for your patience, as this condition is only temporary," Watson said.

"The flushing program will begin in that portion of the Borough north of French Creek from Fillmore Street south to Bridge Street," he said. Flushing is scheduled to continue for five weeks, moving in a southerly direction through the borough.
"We are scheduling the flushing between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. in an effort to minimize the inconvenience to users of the system,” Watson explained. He added that flushing of the water distribution system twice a year is an integral part of an overall maintenance program.
