PHOENIXVILLE, PA — Phoenixville's Bluebird Distilling is joining the war effort in a big way.

The award-winning local craft distillery is pivoting to producing strictly hand sanitizer for the foreseeable future, as they work to address the nationwide shortage during the coronavirus outbreak.

They've temporarily paused all spirit production in order to focus on sanitizer. Bluebird sanitizer will be distributed to hospitals, doctor's offices, and at-risks communities in Phoenixville and around the greater Philadelphia area.

“This decision was easy," Jared Adkins, Bluebird Distilling Founder and Master Distiller, said Tuesday. "We’re not selling the hand sanitizer for economic profit, we’re just looking to cover the costs of making it so we can support our community. We’re proud to be supporting our medical professionals and those in the front lines during this time of crisis."

The distillery noted that any facilities in need, including homeless shelters, hospitals, senior citizen centers, paramedics, fire stations, and other high-risk organizations, should contact sanitizer@bluebirddistilling.com for distribution.

The sanitizer will not be sold to the general public, and is only for these at-risk communities which the shortage is impacting the hardest. "We want to do our part to help save lives," Adkins added. The sanitizer will be distributed at cost.
