Phoenixville's Middle Ward Has 2 Candidates For 1 Council Seat

Phoenixville races are not all shoe-ins; Beth Burckley and Tracy Tackett are both running for Borough Council in the Middle Ward.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — Two candidates are running to fill a single Middle Ward Borough Council seat in Phoenixville in Tuesday's Primary Election in Pennsylvania, but Mayor Peter Urscheler has no challengers.

Races for Phoenixville Borough Council seats are uncontested, with the exception of the Middle Ward race between incumbent Beth Burckley and Tracy Lee Tackett, on the Democratic ballot.

Burkley has represented Phoenixville's Middle Ward since 2018 and serves as chair for the Police, Personnel, and Public Safety Committee. She is challenged by Tracy Lee Tacket, a longtime planning and zoning consultant to local governments who has not previously held public office. Mayor Peter Urscheler is the only candidate for mayor on Phoenixville's ballot, appearing on the Democratic ballot. He has been mayor since January 2018. Candidates to represent other wards are running uncontested.

For Phoenixville Area School District's Board of Directors Director at Large, Phoenixville's primary ballots, the Republican ballot lists four candidates. They are: Scott Overland, Emily Shanley, Caitlyn M. Carminito, and Susan Turner, who was added to the board in September.

The Dem's ballot lists Scott Overland, Caitlyn M. Carminito, Susan Turner, and Victoria Walker.

Voters are instructed to vote for no more than four school directors, on each party's ballot.

Five candidates appear on the Democratic ballot for Judge in the Court of Common Pleas. Three of the five are cross-filed on both ballots, and Republican voters must choose two of these three: Lou Mincarelli, P.J. Redmond, and Alita Rovito. Democratic party members can choose two from among those three and also Carlos Barraza and Tony Verwey.
