Phoenixville's Steel City Prepares To Open New Brewery
Steel City's new brewery, featuring a much talked about coffee stout, has set their opening date for later this month.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — The newest offering in downtown Phoenixville does indeed involve delicious micro-brewed beer, like many recent additions over the past few years. But this one is a little bit different.
The newest Phoenixville brewery will be housed at longtime local institution Steel City Coffeehouse, now owned by Ed Simpson and Laura Vernola-Simpson. The pair took over back in May of 2016 and the local favorite has been reborn, with even more food, drinks, and live, local music.
A ribbon cutting for the brewery will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 30.

As award winning brewer and local resident Seth Clearwater told Philly Grub last fall, the new brewery won't change the essence of what Steel City is:
"We’re not going to be a 'beer bar.' This is still a café, coffeehouse and listening room – but it’s going to be a café, coffeehouse and listening room with some of the best beer you’ll find anywhere in the Philadelphia area."

While several beers will be available, the coffee stout, brewed using Hobo Ed's distinctively delicious coffee, is expected to be a favorite.
The ribbon cutting celebration will begin at 5 p.m. on Jan. 30. The kitchen will be open, and live music will be provided by Smiff.
