Route 422 West Reopens After Major Accident Thursday
Route 422 west reopened Thursday after an accident shut down lanes and left at least two victims injured.

COLLEGEVILLE, PA — An overturned truck led to all westbound lanes of Route 422 being blocked for several hours early Thursday morning, leading to multiple injuries and causing significant traffic delays for commuters.
The accident occurred around 6 a.m. near the Route 29 exit at Collegeville.
It's not yet clear what caused the accident. A dump truck was flipped over onto its side, blocking most of the road and immediately causing lengthy backups on the road. The crash also left a pickup truck largely destroyed, with the roof, doors, and hood ripped off.

The Collegeville Fire Company established a landing zone on 422 for a helicopter, which transported one of the victims to a nearby hospital. The condition of the victims was not immediately known.
Motorists were being directed to exit 422 at Route 29, and then to get back on the road at the next exit.

Cleanup was still underway at 9:30 a.m., with officials estimating that crews would be on the scene for "several more hours." The road was reopened around noon.
Lower Providence EMS, Trappe EMS, Upper Providence Fire, Collegeville Fire, and Black Rock Fire were among the crews to respond to the scene.
