Summer Meals Fill a Community Need
I'm grateful for efforts like the summer meals program that the Reformed Church of the Ascension in West Norriton held last week.

Food insecurity can happen in both rural and urban areas. In 2017, an estimated 12% of Pennsylvania households were food insecure, and that number was nearly 9% in Montgomery County.

Summer can be a difficult time – especially for children who might otherwise typically receive their meals during school.
So, I’m grateful for efforts like the summer meals program that Reformed Church of the Ascension in West Norriton held last week. My staff and I volunteered there, helping to serve free lunches to children and teens from our area. It was also a chance for the kids to have fun with some crafts, learn about fire safety from the Jefferson Fire Co. and more!

It’s great to see our community stepping up to fill a need, and I’m honored we were able to help. I’ll continue to work to find ways we can better support vulnerable members of our community.
