Your Local Earned Income Tax Deadline Is Still April 15
A statewide tax collections service reminded Pennsylvanians their local tax deadline has not been extended like federal and state deadlines.

CHESTER COUNTY, PA — A statewide tax collections service is urging Pennsylvania taxpayers not to presume that their local Earned Income Tax deadline has been extended, like the IRS and state deadlines.
Keystone Collections Group, which serves more than 900 municipalities and school districts across Pennsylvania, today underscored that local Earn Income Taxes are due April 15 this year. The EIT deadline is not extended along with the federal and state tax filing deadline.

Keystone Collections said today, "The Local Earned Income Tax filing deadline has NOT been extended beyond the April 15, 2021 due date. While the PA Department of Revenue and the IRS announced that income tax filing deadlines for their 2020 final returns are extended to May 17, 2021, no such change has been made for the Local Earned Income Tax Filing deadline."
Keystone Collections Group is a service contracted by municipalities for tax collection. Keystone said it "will continue to monitor announcements from the Governor's Office, the State Legislature, and the Department of Community and Economic Development regarding any potential change in the filing deadline."

Unless official notice is given by one of the above authorities, the April 15 deadline cannot change, Keystone explained. Returns filed after this date will be assessed statutory penalty and interest regardless of extensions by the PA Department of Revenue and the IRS.
Keystone Collections, though, said it will waive late fees for final returns submitted after April 15, and through May 17, 2021.
