PUC to Review Yellow Cab Request to Serve Pine, North Hills
Taxi company cites growing demand from residents and hotel officials in request to expand service.
The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission is holding a hearing today in Pittsburgh on a request by Yellow Cab Company of Pittsburgh to expand service into Pine Township and other North Hills communities.
Yellow Cab is seeking PUC approval to expand its taxi service because of increased demand from residents and hotel operators, said Jamie Campolongo, president and chief executive officer of its parent company, Pittsburgh Transportation Group.
The company is seeking permission to serve Pine and Marshall townships, Bradford Woods and Franklin Park in Allegheny County, according to its application. It also wants to expand into Cranberry and Adams townships, Seven Fields and Mars in southern Butler County.

"[Potential customers] have complained about a lack of service in the greater North Hills, especially after 5 p.m." Campolongo said. "As the largest cab operator in Western Pennsylvania, we believe we can fill that gap."
Campolongo will explain Yellow Cab's position at the public hearing today at PUC offices in Piatt Place, Downtown.
