Former Pittsburgh Pirates Owner's 63-Acre Estate Sold

LIGONIER, PA — Former Pittsburgh Pirates owner Kevin McClatchy's spacious 63-acre estate near Ligonier has been sold for $3.2 million, according to Miami-based Platinum Luxury Auctions.

The spacious country retreat's main residence boasts six bedrooms, six full and one half-baths in 9,600 square feet. Interior finishes include exposed wood beams, wood flooring, and stone accents.

The open floor plan includes an expansive central living room – complete with Georgia pine, a two-story stone fireplace, and French doors opening to a covered terrace. The gourmet kitchen comes with a pizza oven, wet bar, and lounge with room for billiards. The outdoor entertainment space includes a large gas fire pit, covered dining area, swimming pool and a spa.

The property includes a recently renovated 1,000 square-feet guesthouse, a six-stall barn equipped with a brick-walled office and a fenced pasture has been maintained, and a
small equipment garage.

McClatchy, 57, is the chairman of the publishing company The McClatchy Company. He led a group of investors that purchased the Pirates in 1996 and was the team's CEO and primary
owner until 2007 when Bob Nutting replaced him.
