Alleged Killer's Mom Tried to Help Get Rid of Weapon, Police Say

A Pottstown woman has been charged with trying to help her son dispose of a weapon following a murder he's accused of committing.

Pottstown police arrested 39-year-old Julia Lillian White on May 14 after an investigation where, police say, she discussed trying to locate a weapon allegedly used by her son, Maurice Andrews, Jr., in a March killing.

According to a report in the Pottstown Mercury, authorities recorded jailhouse conversations between White and Andrews where they allegedly discussed locating the weapon, using veiled references to it and to the fact that they were aware they could be recorded while speaking at the jailhouse or on the phone.

Andrews and another man, Michael Hinton, of Norristown, is accused of shooting Victor Bonilla-Baez to death on March 22 outside the Brian's Cafe restaurant on Jefferson Avenue.
