POTTSTOWN, PA — A boil water advisory was issued in Pottstown Wednesday after a water main was busted open during construction.

The pipe was "badly damaged" when it was accidentally hit by a contractor of the borough.

The impacted area is Wilson Street, from Evans Street to Hale Street, and Hale Street, from Wilson Street to Kenneth Street.

Residents in this area should boil all water before drinking it or using it to cook with.

Repair work could lead to a loss of disinfection and water pressure, authorities said.
