As the July 4th holiday approaches, the Pottstown Fire Department would like to remind everyone that all types of fireworks are illegal in the Borough and would like to remind everyone that if they are not used safely, fireworks can cause serious burns, amputations, and eye injuries.
The use of illegal fireworks is not only dangerous, but also a nuisance to our neighbors, pets, and residents of our community. To help make this year’s Independence Day celebration enjoyable for all, the Pottstown Police and Fire Departments ask all residents to follow the law and refrain from purchasing or using illegal fireworks.

Borough Ordinance prohibits the use of fireworks, even those that are legal, within 150 feet of any structure. Fireworks are also prohibited in all parks, any public space and on private property without consent of the landowner. Anyone caught violating fireworks law is subject to a $100 fine and the seizure of their fireworks.
The safest way to enjoy fireworks is at public fireworks displays that are put on by trained professionals. These fireworks are usually also free of charge and way more impressive than anything you can buy on a street corner.
