Collegeville Man Charged With Assault By Vehicle In Head-On Crash
A man with 3 prior DUIs is charged with felonies after he allegedly crossed a centerline while DUI, critically injuring a Pottstown woman.

NORTH COVENTRY TOWNSHIP, PA — A Collegeville man police say was DUI and had no driver's license has been charged with Assault by Vehicle after a June 15 head-on collision in North Coventry Township that left a Pottstown woman in critical condition.
North Coventry Township Police on Thursday reported charges against Andrew R. Peterson, 48.
Peterson was driving a black 2020 Nissan Sentra that police said crossed over the centerline of S. Hanover Street and struck a 2006 Hyundai Elantra driven by a Pottstown woman, in a head-on collision June 15.

Police reported Peterson had three prior DUI convictions. He was charged this week with Aggravated Assault by Vehicle While DUI, a second-degree felony, Driving Under the Influence with General impairment, a third-degree felony, Accidents involving death or personal injury while not properly licensed, a third-degree felony, Driving While Operating Privilege is Suspended or Revoked, a misdemeanor. He is also charged with two summary offenses, police reported.
Peterson was arraigned in Chester County District Court Judge John Hipple. Bail was set in the amount of $50,000 cash. A preliminary hearing has been set for July 8.

A police report issued Thursday afternoon said the victim remains in critical condition at Reading Hospital.
