End of Summer Activities in Central PA

Peter Bubel on some end of summer activities you can enjoy in central PA.

As schools start back up in the next few weeks, it feels as if summer is drawing to a close here in central Pennsylvania. However, there are still plenty of opportunities left to enjoy the season. The warm weather will likely last for another month or two. Here are some activities you can enjoy in central PA to enjoy the end of summer and ring in the Fall.

Check out the PA Renaissance Faire

The end of summer is just the beginning of the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire located in Manheim, PA. You’ll feel as if you’ve gone back in time when you walk through the front gates. Enjoy some great food and wine while you check out shows ranging from comedy to jousting and human chess matches.

Go to a baseball game

This is also the perfect time of year to enjoy some baseball. If you want to go big, go to a Phillies’ game or, if you prefer, go smaller by attending a minor league game like the Reading Fightin Phils or the Lancaster Barnstormers. There’s no shortage of ball games to attend in central PA!

Eat ice cream at the Jigger Shop

Eating ice cream is a summer tradition. The Jigger Shop in Mount Gretna has been in business for over 100 years and is a fantastic place to eat a sundae after going for a hike or a swim. The frozen hot chocolate is not to be missed!

Visit Hershey

Hershey, PA is known as the “sweetest place on Earth.” You can take a free tour to learn how chocolate is made, see animals in ZooAmerica, or spend a day riding world-class rollercoasters at Hershey Park.

Summer might be ending soon, but you can still make the most of the time that's left. Enjoy!
