Funeral Procession For Ringing Hill Fire Chief Joseph Tascione Is Friday

Tascione, of Pottstown, died on Sunday. The former Ringing Hill fire chief was a firefighter for more than 50 years.

POTTSTOWN, PA — A funeral procession and burial for former Ringing Hill fire chief Joseph Tascione will be held on Friday afternoon, from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m., Lower Pottsgrove Police said.

The procession will shut down Buchert Road between N. Valley Road and N. Adams Street as Tascione is taken for burial to Saint Aolysius Cemetery.

Tascione, a firefighter for more than 50 years, passed away on Sunday.

Joseph E. Tascione, III, of Pottstown, husband of Patricia L. (Lenhardt) Tascione, passed away Sunday August 27, 2017 at Chestnut Knoll in Boyertown.

Born in Pottstown, he was the son of the late Joseph E., Jr. and Genevieve (Eschbach) Tascione.

Joe was a life member of Ringing Hill Fire Co. for over 50 years, where he held many positions over the years including Fire Chief and Financial Secretary. He was also a cofounder of Saturday night bingo held at the Fire Co. Joe loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and taking trips to Atlantic City and Las Vegas.

He worked at Firestone Tire & Rubber Company until its closing. He retired from the Montgomery County Housing Authority with the Maintenance Department after 28 years of service.

Surviving along with his wife are two daughters Gina Mitchell wife of Sam of Birdsboro, and Tina Fera of Pittsburgh; four grandchildren Jade Barlow, Nicholas Tascione, and Scott and Tricia Mitchell; three great grandchildren Andrew, Dalton, and Kyra Barlow; one brother Barry Tascione husband of Cindy of Millersville; and one sister Sharon Platchek wife of John of Pottstown.

A Memorial Mass will be held Friday September 1, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Aloysius Church, 223 Beech St., Pottstown, PA 19464, with Fr. Joseph Maloney officiating. Interment will follow at St. Aloysius New Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 9:00-10:45 AM at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joseph’s memory to the Alzheimers Association, in care of Chestnut Knoll Personal Care and Memory Care, 120 W. 5th Street, Boyertown, PA 19512. Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 711 N. Franklin St., Pottstown is in charge of arrangements.
