Lane Closures on 422 This Weekend

PennDOT will be closing parts of 422 for bridge work.

This press release was provided by PennDOT.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today announced that temporary 15-minute traffic stoppages are scheduled on eastbound and westbound Route 422 between the Sanatoga and Route 724 exits in Lower Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery County on Saturday and Sunday (June 29-30) from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for bridge beam placement.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area. The work schedules are weather dependent. Travelers are also reminded that the speed limit in the Route 422 construction zone is 40 miles per hour and fines are doubled in a work zone. State and local police will set-up speed enforcement zones.

The work is part of PennDOT’s $73.3 million project to rebuild and improve 1.6 miles of Route 422 in Lower Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery County and North Coventry Township, Chester County.

J.D. Eckman, Inc., of Atglen, Chester County is the general contractor on the project that is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds. Construction is scheduled to finish in October 2018.

PennDOT reminds motorists they can log on to www.511pa.com or call 511 from any phone to check traffic conditions on Route 422 and other major highways before heading out. For more information, visit www.dot.state.pa.us. Follow local PennDOT information on Twitter at www.twitter.com/511PAPhilly.
