Local Governments Support Redistricting Reform
321 municipalities and 21 county commissions declare support

Pennsylvanians are aware that elected representatives drawing their own voting districts gives an advantage to that party in future elections. On voting day November 5th, over 12,000 registered voters added their names to 70,000 others petitioning elected officials to create an independent redistricting commission that will level the playing field.
Resolutions of support for an independent redistricting commission have been signed by 321 municipalities and 21 county commissions, covering 68% of PA's population. Pennsylvanians want this change. Why then doesn't Pottstown's Representative Tim Hennessey support this initiative? Write or call to ask him.
The 2020 Census begins in April and redistricting takes place in 2021. In order to have a new commission in place to draw the lines after the census is complete, our legislators need to pass PA House Bills 22 & 23 this session. House Bill 23 sets up the independent redistricting commission and tasks it with creating districts for congressional candidates.

House Bill 22 amends the PA Constitution and turns over redistricting responsibility for state legislative districts over to the same redistricting commission set up by House Bill 23. HB 22 must pass this session, again next session and then go to voters for referendum.
