Look Inside This 1870s 'Haunted House' Up For Sale In Pottstown

A house now up for sale in Pottstown has a pretty spooky history.

POTTSTOWN, PA — Homes that claim to be haunted can be found around the country. Look up nearby ghost tours, and you'll probably come across some centuries old property with rumors of residents who have chosen to bespeak their tales of woe into the modern era.

But far more rare, and, one could argue, far more frightening, are those private homes which claim to be haunted, and remain rarely visited in the relatively reassuring company of tour guides or ghost hunters.

In fact, one of those homes with just such a legacy is now up for sale in Pottstown: 166 N. Hanover Street.

The Realtor.com listing hints at "authentic historic elements present throughout the home," but other sources are a bit more specific.

According to HouseCreep, owners Guy and Cathie Clauson have reported "numerous eerie occurrences, including, doors slamming, lights flickering, faucets running, dark figures, etc."

Most of the "incidents" apparently come from the second floor, where an elderly woman lived until her death.

A 2014 feature in the Pottstown Mercury indicated the owners have noticed more than 100 events in their time in the home, ranging from lights flickering, objects flying around the home, a mystery "voice" on a musical recording, windows thrown open, and even the faucets being turned on.

The five bedroom, two bathroom home is being listed at $201,000.
