MCCC To Offer 'Culture In Ancient China'

MCCC’s Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence, Dr. Jiaxi Xu, will present a lecture, “Culture in Ancient China,” on Monday, April 9, from 12:15 to 1:10 p.m. at the Advanced Technology Center, room 110, 340 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell, and on Tuesday, April 24, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at South Hall, room 216, 101 College Drive, Pottstown.

Both lectures are free and open to the public. Dr. Xu also will be sharing images of China and hosting question and answer sessions following the lectures.

A science professor from the Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT), China, Dr. Xu is teaching OrganicChemistry and Chemistry courses at Montgomery County Community College for the spring semester. He has taught Chemistry and related courses for more than 15 years at several prestigious Chinese universities and has published numerous articles in his field.

MCCC applies for teaching scholars through the Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence Program to enhance its programs, foster a global perspective and promote cultural and social diversity.

Dr. Xu is the fourth Fulbright scholar to visit MCCC in the past six years. Prior Fulbright scholars include History Professor Fernando Da Silva Camargo from Brazil; Education Professor Rosnani Binti Hashim from Malaysia; and Artist/Professor Cephas Yao Agbemenu from Kenya.

The Fulbright Scholar Program is administered by the Council for the International Exchange of Scholars and is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
