Miller-Keystone Blood Center Issues Emergency Call For Donors

Miller-Keystone Blood Center today issued a call for blood donors with the O-Negative blood type. 

While donations of all types are needed, O-Negative donations are critical, as individuals with the O-Negative blood type are referred to as universal blood donors, meaning the red blood cells of an O-Negative donor can be transfused to anyone, regardless of their blood type. 

These donations are particularly important in cases of accident and severe trauma, when there may not be time available to confirm the specific blood type of the patient in need of a life-saving transfusion.
