A New Brewery Is Opening Soon In Pottstown
The revitalization continues: a new brewery is opening up this month in a historic building in downtown Pottstown.

POTTSTOWN, PA — A brand new brewery will open up in downtown Pottstown in the coming weeks.
The new spot is called JJ Ratigan Brewing Co., and it's located on 227 E. High Street. They are planning to open at some point during the second week of December; an exact date has not yet been announced.
It's located within the old Ellis Mills Building, which dates to the 1800s and has served numerous functions over its long life, including a hat store and, briefly, a night club called Jazzie's Lounge, according to the Pottstown Historical Society.

It's one of several exciting redevelopment projects in Pottstown in 2019, with the Blue Elephant opening in a restored bank down the road on 152 E. High Street.
JJ Ratigan's will feature 13 taps of craft beer, a full menu of food, live music, and more.

The brewery is named in honor of a man who launched a thriving whiskey and bottled beer enterprise on Frankford Avenue in Philadelphia during the early 1900s, according to a profile in Breweries in PA. His descendant, Dan Glennon, is one of the co-founders of the Pottstown brewery.
