New Hanover Man Cited for Leaving Dog in Car

The incident occurred in 2012 in West Pottsgrove.

According to a report in the Pottstown Mercury, a 24-year-old New Hanover man was fined $100 and court costs after he pleaded guilty to a summary charge of cruelty to an animal.

Steven Santangelo, of the 2500 block of Cherry Street, was originally charged with a more serious misdemeanor animal cruelty charge. The charges stem from an incident in August 2012 where Santangelo locked his Staffordshire terrier, Lexis, in his truck without food or water or nearly six hours. West Pottsgrove police freed the dog and filed charges against Santangelo.
