PA Antlerless Deer License Limit Is 6, Applications Begin Soon

The PA Game Commission will begin taking antlerless deer hunting applications by mail on July 12, with increased limits.

PENNSYLVANIA — The Pennsylvania Game Commission lifted limits on antlerless deer licenses in April from three to six and mail-in license applications open July 12.

Hunters statewide now have the opportunity to apply for and receive additional antlerless deer licenses for as long as licenses remain available — and provided that a hunter holds no more than six unfilled antlerless licenses at a time, according to the State Game Commission.

Pennsylvania hunters may begin applying for antlerless deer licenses by mail beginning July 12, as changes were made to the 2021 licensing year, including an increase in the fee for the antlerless license, and an increase in the personal license limits.

The cost for the antlerless deer license has increased to $6.97 for residents and to $26.97 for non-residents across PA Wildlife Management Units (WMU).

Personal license limits are increased, also. All hunting license holders, excluding mentored permits, may now apply for and obtain up to six antlerless deer licenses before the start of hunting season — for any Wildlife Management Unit in which licenses remain available.

"This doesn’t mean that hunters can apply for all six licenses at once during the open round," said Chester County Treasurer Patricia Maisano, who manages applications in the 5C Unit. Hunters may submit one application each in the opening round, the unsold first round, and the unsold second round.

Multiple applications may be submitted at once when over-the-counter sales begin on Sept. 13 for WMUs where licenses remain, Maisano explained in a news release for her area.

The Pennsylvania Game Commission has set the antlerless deer license allocations for each WMU. Those can be viewed here.
