Pottstown Native Who Was 'Socially And Politically Conscious' Passes At 34

POTTSTOWN, PA — Alex J. Howell, age 34, of York, PA, formerly Pottstown, PA, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017. Born on March 31, 1983 in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, he was a son of Cynthia A. (Ilg), wife of Bob Waters of Pottstown, PA and the late Stephen J. Howell.

Alex graduated from Owen J. Roberts High School. A socially and politically conscious young man, he received his bachelor's degree in Sociology from West Chester University. He was a fan of college football, as well as professional baseball, basketball, and football. Alex enjoyed reading and listening to a wide range of music.

In addition to his mother and step-father, Alex is survived by one sister, Carly S., wife of Kyle Nagle of West Chester, PA; two nieces, Cassiopeia and Marlo Nagle; maternal grandmother, Marie Ilg of Pottstown, PA and paternal grandmother, Diane Gunnett of Douglassville, PA.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Bowling Green Brandywine Rehab, 1375 Newark Road, Kennett Square, PA 19348.
