Pottstown Regional Public Library to Celebrate Celtic Heritage

The library will hold a Celtic Concert with Irish and Scottish stories, featuring the world-renowned Charlie Zahm.

The ‘Luck of the Irish’ is coming to Pottstown Regional Public Library (PRPL), March 8, with a special Celtic Concert in celebration of  St. Patrick’s Day.

The concert, which starts at 7 p.m., will feature Charlie Zahm, a Celtic singer known for his knowledge of Irish and Scottish stories and deft guitar skills, according to a PRPL press release.

He has performed on television, and has been one of the few in the world to sing with “Black Watch” of Scotland, an elite and historic military regiment.

According to Charlie Zahm’s website, Zahm is also a popular performer at Celtic music festivals, Maritime and Early American music events anywhere along the East coast.

Sue Davis, PRPL director, said Zahm’s visit is thanks to a fan of his on the library’s board. Davis said that Zahm’s visit would be a first for the library, who noted his well-attended performances at other area libraries.

Over the year, Davis said the library has had much success with holiday-themed and cultural programs for its youth patrons. However, Zahm's visit comes as part of the library’s effort to create programs for its adult patrons.

“I think it’s great, it’s good to get people inside the library,” Davis, said. “We’re trying to increase events like this.”
