Pottstown's DeWan Commissioned U.S. Army Second Lieutenant

News from Widener University:

 

Jesse D. DeWan of Pottstown was commissioned as a second lieutenant of the U.S. Army on May 10 through the ROTC program at Widener University.

He graduated from Widener as a distinguished military graduate on May 12, earning a bachelor's degree in anthropology.

During his senior year at Widener, DeWan served as battalion commander and Alpha Company commander. He is a graduate of the Leader's Development and Assessment Course, Airborne School and Air Assault School.

DeWan will enter active duty to attend the Infantry Basic Officer Leader Course at Fort Benning, Ga., and will receive his follow on assignment at his basic course.

DeWan's parents, Jim and Dee DeWan, and his wife, Traci, participated in the commissioning ceremony by pinning on DeWan's rank.
