Pottstown's Edgewood Students Raise Money For Charity

Students participated in the "Pennies for Patients" fund-raising campaign which benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Students participated in the “Pennies for Patients” fundraising campaign which benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  

During February, students deposited loose change in classroom donation jars.

While collecting over $700, Denise Schleicher’s fourth grade class earned recognition for having collected the most pennies with a total of $168.23.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society "is the world's largest voluntary (nonprofit) health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services," according to the organization's website. 

“Our students and staff are gaining valuable life lessons by learning the value of giving back to the community and supporting those in need," Edgewood Principal Calista Boyer said.
