Pottstown Teacher A Frontline Hero, Say Phillies

POTTSTOWN, PA —The Philadelphia Phillies chose a Pottstown High School special education teacher to be honored among 41 Frontline Heroes.

Pottstown High School teacher Arden Moore will be honored with a big "sign of gratitude" from the Phillies and their fans, the Pottstown School District announced. She's been teaching face-to-face classes since last August while she's been in chemotherapy.

"Arden is recognized for continually stepping up to the plate to serve the community during the pandemic," said school district communications director John Armato.

She is one of 41 Frontline Heroes to be honored and spotlighted with a street sign banner surrounding Citizens Bank Park. The banner will be on display beginning with the Philadelphia Phillies opener on April 1.

Moore was nominated for her continued efforts as a Special Education teacher at the high school, Armato said in a news release. Moore has been teaching Life Skills from the building every day since August, while receiving her chemotherapy treatments.

"There can never be enough gratitude shown to the extraordinary men and women who have been on the front lines since the onset of the pandemic,” said Michael Harris, Phillies Vice President, Marketing and New Media.

"Their bravery and commitment to the community is remarkable. With the help of our fans, some of these amazing individuals who go above and beyond each day will now be honored in a unique and memorable way at Citizens Bank Park,” Harris added.

"(We are) Trojan Proud of Arden, for all that she does for Pottstown's students every day! She gives us another reason to say Proud to be from Pottstown," the school district's news release said.
