Pottstown Woman, Talented Figure Skater, Passes At Age 26
Pottstown's Nadia Lopez, 26, "had a heart of gold that was bigger than life," her obituary reads.

POTTSTOWN, PA — Nadia E. Lopez, 26, of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 in Pottstown Hospital - Tower Health. Born on July 25, 1992 in Schwabisch Hall, Germany, she was the daughter of Domingo and Julie A. (Kiefer) Lopez, of Pottstown.
A Class of 2010 graduate of St. Pius X High School, Nadia was a member of the Drama Club. She was currently attending Empire Beauty School and was incredibly skilled in hair and makeup. Nadia was a talented figure skater since the age of 7, having won several medals at various skating competitions and even won her event at the Keystone State Championships in 2005. She also enjoyed dance, soccer and basketball in her younger years.

Nadia had a heart of gold that was bigger than life. She would help any friend in need and always put others in front of her self. She wore her heart on her sleeve and had an immense love for her family. She enjoyed family gatherings and time spent with her cousins. Nadia cared for the veterans and was very proud of her father's service. She even taught her mother how to ice skate. Nadia also held a special place in her heart for animals, especially dogs.
Her care for others was evident when her choice to be an organ donor resulted in saving the lives of 6 others from around the country.

In addition to her parents, Nadia is survived by her son: Cameron Michael Lopez-Bani; brother: Domingo K., husband of Alexis Lopez, of Austin, TX; nephew: Dylan Lopez; niece: Aurelia Lopez; maternal grandparents: William and Pamela Kiefer, of Horseheads, NY; paternal grandmother: Olga Gonzalez, of Bayomon, Puerto Rico; two maternal aunts: Toni, wife of Scott Abrams, of Huntersville, NC and Michelle, wife of Shawn Barkley, of Horseheads, NY; two paternal aunts: Sylvia, wife of Javier Lorenzo, of Bayomon, Puerto Rico and Olga, wife of Alex Sanchez, of Mamaroneck, NY; two paternal uncles: Oswaldo Lopez, of Arecibo, Puerto Rico and Cesar E., husband of Carmen Lopez, of Arecibo, Puerto Rico; longtime partner: Daniel Bani, of Pottstown; cousins: Kimberly, Amy, Joe, Kaitlin, Emmalie, Anthony, Javier, Oswaldo, Christopher, Kenia, Lilybeth and Yadiel; longtime skating coach: Ray Laub, of Lititz, PA; and numerous close friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her memorial mass at St. Teresa of Calcutta R.C. Church, 256 Swamp Pike, Schwenksville, Pennsylvania on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 11:00 am. Officiating will be Rev. Paul C. Brandt. Friends will be received from 9:00 am - 10:45 am Saturday at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Nadia's name to Domingo Lopez-Soto, c/o Phoenixville Federal Bank, 70 Lewis Road, Royersford, PA 19468.
