Pregnant Woman Charged with Assault after Domestic Incident

The expectant mother and her boyfriend were fighting, police said.

A Pottstown woman is facing simple assault charges and charges of making a false report to a police officer after she reportedly accused her boyfriend of trying to strangle her, but surveillance tapes showed a different side of the tale. 

27-year-old Michelle Lynn Ruffo, who is 19 weeks pregnant, called police on June 7 and told police her boyfriend tried to choke her, according to a story in the Pottstown Mercury.  

Police said Ruffo claimed that they had fought about her boyfriend's faithfulness and the fight got physical, but the responding officer couldn't see any marks on Ruffo's neck.

According to police, Ruffo had been drinking and tests showed a 0.14 blood alcohol level.

Police then questioned the boyfriend, who gave a different version of events and showed them video that reportedly proved he was right.
