Socially Distanced Drive-In Movie Theatre Open In Pottstown

As the shutdowns continue in the area, one local theatre is now offering a special moviegoing experience.

POTTSTOWN, PA — As the shutdowns continue in the area, one local theatre is now offering a special moviegoing experience.

The State Theatre of Boyertown has teamed up with SunnyBrook Ballroom to offer a series of socially distant, drive-in movie nights in Pottstown.

Tickets are on sale for $20 a night. Films are scheduled through the end of May, and two have already sold out.

The schedule includes classic films and TV. Here's what's on the remainder docket for this month:

  • E.T.: Friday, May 29, 8:30 p.m. (sold out)
  • Back to the Future: Saturday, May 30, 8:30 p.m. (sold out)
  • Dirty Dancing: Sunday, May 31, 8:30 p.m.

It's not yet clear if or when more films will be shown as the summer progresses.

Gates open at 7 p.m. Food and beverage purchases can be made through the theatre's online ordering system, and they'll be delivered directly to vehicles.

Sound is available via FM radio. Movies will play on a 40 foot screen.

Restrooms would be available on-site.
