Vacant Beech Street Warehouse Could Become Apartments

A non-profit agency wants to create 43 apartments for artists and those interested in the arts in the former Fecera's warehouse.

Pottstown Borough Council heard plans to develop a vacant warehouse into an apartment building at Wednesday's council meeting, according to a report in the Pottstown Mercury.

A non-profit organization, Genesis Housing, told borough council that they pln to partner with a Syracuse non-profit housing agency to create 33 one-bedroom, 3 two-bedroom and 7 three-bedroom apartments.

The apartments would be low-income loft-style apartments aimed at attracting artists. However, representatives of Genesis Housing told the council that they carefully vet all their tenants, including background and credit checks.
