Coventryville United Methodist Church (CUMC) has planned an eventful Holy Week, starting with Palm Sunday on April 14th. Palm branches will be distributed to all attendees at the 9:30 AM Contemporary and the 11:00 AM Traditional services. The palm, which symbolizes victory, commemorates Jesus' triumphal entrance into Jerusalem. Later in the week, Maundy Thursday is celebrated on April 18th. At 7:00 PM, CUMC will host a complete service of communion with sung responses to remember Jesus' actions at the Last Supper. "Maundy" meaning command as Jesus presented a new commandment during the meal - "love one another". The Good Friday service on April 19th, at 7:00 PM, both light and darkness will be observed as The Passion of Christ is remembered. The simplicity of this service highlights Jesus' unconditional love for everyone.

Holy Saturday, April 19th, marks a change in perspective from death to life. The day starts with a Prayer Vigil at 8:00 AM that runs throughout the day until 4:00 PM. Individuals and/or families are invited to take 15 minute shifts at various locations throughout the church to pray and contemplate the life of Jesus. In addition, CUMC will host a pancake breakfast starting at 9:00 AM on Saturday. This will be followed by an Easter Egg Hunt at 10:00 AM. The eggs are a great symbol of Jesus' emergence from the tomb, and the hunt is a celebration of new life. All of these activities are free and open to the public.

Easter Sunday begins with a sunrise service at 7:00 AM. A free community breakfast will be served at 8:00 AM. Later, a second Easter service at 10:00 AM will celebrate Jesus' rising.
