VILLANOVA, PA — The bucolic landscape. The expansive, historic estates. The excellent schools. The proximity to Philadelphia and New York.

There are many obvious perks to living in Villanova. To enjoy them, you'll pay a hefty price.

Villanova is now the region's most expensive place to purchase a home. That's according to an analysis by Philadelphia Magazine, which lists the Philadelphia region's 50 most expensive neighborhoods for home purchases.

The average home purchase price in Villanova in 2018 was $1.125 million — up 11 percent from the year before.

Radnor Township overall was ranked No. 8 for the most expensive, with an average 2018 price of $723,735. The Wayne section of Radnor was ranked 18th with a $642,074 average price in 2018.

Several other Main Line communities are among the 50 most expensive places in the Philadelphia region, including Gladwyne (3rd), Bryn Mawr (11th), Merion Station (13th), Devon (24th), and Wynnewood (35th).
