A Very Roxborough Christmas for Dobson Students

5th District Police host annual party for local school kids.

Magic and tinsel were in the air, as Dobson Elementary School students celebrated Christmas a little early with Philadelphia Police on Wednesday.

For the 44th year, the 5th District police department hosted its annual Christmas party for second grade students at the Manayunk public school.

Miss Green Bean—part clown, part magician—dazzled the boys and girls with a holiday-themed act; Santa and Mrs. Claus rode into the station astride a Philadelphia Fire Department engine; and all the kids received at least two presents, thanks to donations from residents and local businesses.

"We would really like to thank all of the businesses and citizens in the 5th District for their generous donations. Otherwise, we never would be able to host this great event," Community Relations Officer Charlie Kline said.

Restaurant Depot, Penn Distributors and Secret Garden helped with the decorations, toys, and Christmas tree—with Penn Distributors donating four bikes for lucky boys and girls.
