Chestnut Hill Lyft Users Are Great Tippers, Company Says

CHESTNUT HILL, PHILADELPHIA – Ridesharing is wildly popular in Philadelphia, as well as cities across the country and around the world. With Lyft becoming a leader in the service following public backlash against rival Uber, Lyft is pushing its service in many ways, including new advertisements with celebrities such as Tilda Swinton and Jordan Peele and a special Stranger Things experience held over Halloween weekend.

One thing that initially set Lyft apart from Uber was the ability to tip drivers, which Uber later implemented.

So what neighborhoods in Philly tip the best?

According to data from Lyft, Chestnut Hill is the second best tipping neighborhood in the city.

"Since becoming the first rideshare company to offer in-app tipping, Lyft has been passionate about allowing passengers to recognize and appreciate their drivers for getting them where they need to go,"

Andrew Woolf, General Manager of Lyft Pennsylvania, said. "Lyft’s Philly passenger and driver community is vibrant and through tipping, drivers have been able to earn more."

The top-tipping neighborhoods are:

1. Eastwick
2. Chestnut Hill
3. Fishtown
4. Old City
5. Roxborough

To-date, Lyft drivers have received over $350 million in tips, the company said.
