Fairmount Among Nation's Best Urban Parks

PHILADELPHIA – Fairmount Park is massive. It covers a huge swath of Philadelphia with trails, green space, and waterways.

With more than 9,200 acres to its name, Fairmount found itself listed as one of the nation's best urban parks.

According to Cheapism.com, Fairmount Park "seems to offer something for everyone among its 9,200 acres, which straddle the Piedmont Plateau and Inner Coastal Plains."

The website boasts about the park's horseback riding, hiking, or off-road cycling trails; pier-side fishing; outdoor concerts; and multiple environmental centers.

Cheapism says you won't want to miss the colonial mansions and Victorian-era boathouses in the park.
