Friday Vigil Set for Luce, Petrucci

Roxborough youths died 20 years ago Friday.

Editor's note: The time for the vigil was originally incorrect and has since been changed.

Since Michael Luce and Michael Petrucci Jr. died 20 years ago Dec. 7 in a car crash, their friends and family have gathered at the accident site on Northwestern Avenue to remember them.

The pair died in 1992 when a car with eight other friends crashed into a tree at the Philadelphia-Montgomery County border. Petrucci was 16, and Luce was 20.

That tradition continues Friday night when friends invite those who remember Luce and Petrucci to meet on Northwestern Avenue, said friend Keith House, who survived the accident.

House said the Fairmount Park parking lot, located at the end of Northwestern Avenue, will stay open until 8 p.m. The friends received permission from the park to extend its hours.
