Hello Roxborough-Manayunk!

Well, it’s been a little while, but now I’m back.

For those of you who do not yet know me, allow me to introduce myself.

My name is Jon Campisi, and as of today, I’ll be your new Roxborough-Manayunk Patch editor.

My return to the two Northwest Philly communities comes after a brief stint in another nearby neighborhood; I had been hired to launch the Chestnut Hill Patch. That site went live in mid-November, come to think about it, it has been three months to the day that Chestnut Hill Patch launched.

Prior to venturing to the Hill, I worked as beat reporter for the now defunct community newspaper The Star, covering none other than Roxborough and Manayunk.

During my nearly two-and-a-half years at the paper, I grew quite fond of your two communities, so much so that when I was told Roxborough Patch editor Sam Fran Scavuzzo would be leaving to take another position within the company, I jumped at the opportunity to return here.

While working for the paper, I got to know Manayunk and Roxborough quite well. I have a good sense of both the Main Street and Ridge Avenue commercial corridors, I educated myself on neighborhood issues. Overall, I became well versed with the goings-on of Manayunk and Roxborough.

Now, however, after being away for close to four months, I get to return to the region with a fresh pair of eyes.

I’m looking forward to covering news in the communities myself, but being editor also means I manage a team of contributing writers, so I will be afforded the opportunity to live the Manayunk-Roxborough experience through others as well.

So I say to you Manayunk and Roxborough, thanks for having me back.

I plan to be a visible force in the region, me and my notepad, camera and computer taking to the streets day in and day out, searching for news, talking with locals, getting to know what’s on everyone’s minds.

If you see me out and about, don’t be shy. I love interacting with community members, so be sure to come up and say hi.
