Longtime Roxborough Woman Trying To Keep Pet Potbelly Pig: Report
The potbelly pig named Joey is a pet and not a pig for slaughter and the woman is looking to get a varianace to keep him.

ROXBOROUGH, PHILADELPHIA — A longtime Roxborough resident who owns pet pigs and chickens is being threatened with having her pets taken away, according to a news report.
Dr. Cindy Balzer, a retired veterinarian, has lived in her Roxborough home for 19 years and recently got notification from Animal Care & Control Team of Philadelphia that she cannot keep farm animals as pets in the city, according to Action News.
However, Balzer says her pet pig Joey is a potbelly and not a pig for slaughter.

Action News reports her neighbors have rallied behind her and Joey after she was notified of the farm animal ordinance.
Balzer is looking to get a variance from the City Zoning board to keep her pets and has asked for a hearing with Zoning Board of Adjustment for August, according to Action News.
