Man Reportedly Drowns In Manayunk

A man died Saturday when he drowned in the Schuylkill River in Manayunk, according to several local media reports, including one by NBC 10.

The report stated that the man, in his mid-50s, had gone into the river to cool off while attending the Hidden River Blues Festival at the Venice Island Performing Arts and Recreation Center in Manayunk, and was swept away in the current. His body was found later that night.

Temperatures were over 90 degrees for much of the day on Saturday. 

Another report, by 6ABC, said a friend of the victim had lost sight of him near Venice Island.

The victim’s name has not yet been released.
