What business are you in?

“We offer professional dance and fitness instruction for ages 2 to adult.”

How did you come up with the name?

“I knew I wanted to offer both dance and fitness classes at the studio so Merge Dance Studio, “Where Dance and Fitness Merge” was a great way to explain all that we offer.”

Why start a business in this area?

“I have lived in the Manayunk and Roxborough area since moving to Philadelphia over ten years ago and noticed the lack of professional dance and fitness options for children and adults here. With a growing number of families and young professionals living here it seemed like a perfect place to open a dance and fitness studio.”

What’s the most difficult challenge you’ve faced as a business owner?

“Finding a balance between my work and home life has always been a challenge. I always give 100% to my work, especially since it’s something I love and am passionate about, so finding a way to balance that is always tricky.”

What’s been your proudest achievement since opening?

“I am most proud of being able to offer a judgement free place where everyone feels welcome to come and learn to dance, improve their skills and technique, and/or take a fitness class, all while having fun and meeting great people.”

How does your business give back to the community?

“We love being involved in the community and giving back whenever we can! We offer free dance classes throughout the community at local libraries, parks, and events. We also perform, free of charge, at many local community events as well as fundraisers for local non-profits. We love bringing the joy of dance to everyone.”
