Twitter User @MzAdventurez responded with this sage advice: “Being a single mom, I say take a moment to pat yourself on the back & keep as much work/family/you time balance as possible.”
Moms Council member Carol Haslam offered these thoughts:
“There is no easy answer to this question. Being a single parent is probably the hardest job in the world, and equally as important.
Do not feel discouraged that you need to ask for help–from family, friends, neighbors. The best thing you can do is be tied into a good social network of some sort. If you don't have one, start making friends with neighbors, other parents at Gorgas Park or school, or a good church.
Many times we feel ashamed to ask for help. Admitting our need for help is actually a huge stress reliever, and people often feel happy and purposeful in giving their assistance in whatever way they can.”
Moms Council Member Dawn Wanner had these words of wisdom:
"Don't be afraid to ask for help! Ask another mom to babysit while you run some errands, then return the favor by watching her children when she needs some time out. Have a family member come over and take the kids outside so you can get some housework done."
