2 Philadelphia Cops Tampered Evidence, Will Be Fired: Police
A homicide detective and a narcotics officer are facing several charges and will be dismissed after 30-day suspensions, police said.
PHILADELPHIA — Two members of the Philadelphia Police department are facing several charges and will be fired after suspension suspensions, police said. The two officers were charged in separate cases, according to the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office.
Those two members of the force are homicide detective Nathaniel Williams, 48, and narcotics officer Charles Myers, 47.
According to Philadelphia Police, Williams has been charged with tampering with public records or information, unsworn falsification to authorities, tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, and obstructing administration of law or other governmental function.

Williams was arrested on a warrant at about 11:10 a.m. Thursday, police said.
A 26-year veteran of the department, Williams will be dismissed from the force after a 30-day suspension, according to police.

Myers is facing perjury, tampering with records, and unsworn Falsification charges, police said.
He was arrested at about 12:25 p.m. on Thursday on a warrant obtained by the Philadelphia Police Department’s Internal Affairs Division.
According to the DA's office, Myers made statements regarding incidents leading to the arrests and narcotics and firearms charges that were eventually disproven by video evidence in court on May 16, 2017.
Charges against the two defendants in that case were later withdrawn.
Myers is a 20-year veteran of the department.
As with Williams, Myers has been suspended for 30 days and will be dismissed after the suspension.
