No, it wasn't kids frolicking in the summer heat. The hydrant was opened to relieve pressure while Philadelphia Water Department employees layed new water lines underneath Green Lane from Manayunk Avenue to Main Street.
The multi-million-dollar project, which is designed to replace aging infrastructure, may not be completed until the summer, a PWD supervisor at the site told Patch.
