Sponsorship Shortfalls Cancels 2017 Philadelphia International Cycling Classic

Race Director Robin Morton said hopes are high for the race to return in 2018.

The Philadelphia International Cycling Classic for 2017 has been cancelled, according to race organizers.

"Regrettably, even after extensive fundraising efforts, we were not able to find enough sponsors interested in covering the $1 million cost of the bike race to host it this year,” said Jazelle Jones, Deputy Managing Director-Office of Special Events.

Race Director Robin Morton said the decision to call off the 2017 event was not an easy one to make.
